SHINING 3D and Chinagraph 2024 Launch 3D Reconstruction Challenge to Ignite Innovation

12 Oct 2024 - The 15th Chinagraph (Chinagraph 2024) was successfully held in Huangshan, Anhui. The finals and award ceremony of the Chinagraph 2024 "SHINING Cup" High-Accuracy 3D Reconstruction Challenge were successfully concluded during the event.

This competition offers a platform for professionals and enthusiasts in 3D reconstruction to engage in deep technical exchanges, foster innovative thinking, and enhance practical skills, all while advancing high-quality algorithm development. SHINING 3D aims to accelerate the deep integration of these technologies into diverse real-world applications by fostering an environment where participants can collaborate and explore.

Challenge Overview

In July, the competition officially opened for registration and kicked off the preliminary round. A total of 185 teams participated, and the response was enthusiastic.

Participants in the competition were tasked with a technically demanding challenge. Given the RGB-D sequence data of a scanned object and the intrinsic and extrinsic parameters of the capturing camera, they must estimate a high-fidelity digital representation of the scanned object. Furthermore, participants are expected to output a rendered image with photorealistic quality from a specified viewpoint and reconstruct a highly accurate 3D model of the object.

In October, the judging panel selected 6 winning teams based on criteria such as model reconstruction accuracy, model efficiency, resource utilization, and performance in the on-site defense.

The teams that made it to the finals are defending their case.
